Centre for Applied Research and Extension (CARE) is a non-profit voluntary organization registered under the Societies Registration Act in 1995. CARE is also registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) 1976 on 10th January 2002. It has Income Tax (IT) exemption under Sections 12A and 80G. CARE started with the objectives of: facilitating equality to strengthen unity of people in society; undertake participatory technology development in the vital areas like agriculture, ecology, water and other related fields to enable identification of feasible options; extend support in management of natural resources using participatory approaches to benefit poorer sections. Networking with other organizations having similar objectives and work collaboratively with government academic institutions, research centres, and voluntary agencies in India and abroad for synergistic development is also a key objective of CARE. CARE’s partnerships included: Government of Andhra Pradesh (Joint Forest Management, Integrated Watershed Management Program and Integrated Child Development Scheme); Greater Minicipal Corporation of Hyderabad (health of slum-dwellers); Government of Goa (development of District Agriculture Plans); the Indo-Dutch APWELL project (borewell irrigations schemes for small-holders); the FAOUN APFAMGS Project (farmer managed groundwater systems); FAO-GEF Strategic Pilot on Adaptation to Climate Change (SPACC) Project (sustainable land and water management as a strategy to climate change adaptation); and the Monsonto (Child labor education).
